5 of the most affordable Holiday Destinations in the UK

Budget holiday destinations in the UK

Each year, people are faced with a difficult decision on where to spend their holiday. Naturally, some destinations offer more affordable adventures, and some destinations have the most exciting sights. But what if you want to find the perfect destination that has both? Well, I’ve got just the list for you! In this blog post, I will discuss five of my top affordable holiday destinations in The UK.

Brighton

First on the list is Brighton. Brighton has a lot to offer for those looking for an affordable destination. If you’re easygoing and just want to spend your getaway relaxing then make your way down to the beach, grab an ice cream and put your parasol up!

Brighton is home to the beautiful Brighton Pier, which can be great fun during and after dark! The pier also houses several attractions such as arcades, cinemas, cafes, pubs, and restaurants. Brighton offers visitors more culture than many other destinations, too, with its art galleries and museums that show off all sorts of different exhibitions throughout the year.

A day trip to London could also be on the cards too since it’s only 47 miles north of the seaside town. There are good rail links in this part of the country and you can jump on the train and be in the capital within an hour!

The Peak District

The Peak District is an excellent destination for those looking to get away from the crowds. The National Park has over 250 miles of footpaths, bridleways, and cycle routes, perfect if you’re not keen on driving in tourist hotspots or larger cities such as London or Manchester. And because this region isn’t one of the most popular destinations, it won’t be challenging to find affordable accommodation either! The Peak District offers plenty of options for accommodation, you’ll find some cute little B&B’s, a number of campsites that are really close to some of the most visited spots such as Castleton, Buxton and the stunning Chatsworth house.

You know that I’m all about adventure and getting outdoors so it was fairly obvious that the Peak District would be on this list. The Peak District has some great peaks that offer stunning views across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire. (In my opinion it has some of the most romantic walks in the whole on the UK)! There are many scenic spots dotted throughout, including Curbar edge which offers some breathtaking views across the Derwent Valley. There’s also Ladybower reservoir, where waterfalls cascade down the sides of the the landscape during spring when meltwater gathers after snow falls up higher on surrounding hillsides.

Cornwall

Cornwall is an excellent destination for those looking to explore the UK. Not only does it offer stunning beaches and coves, but many affordable bed & breakfast establishments can be found all over Cornwall, especially in Penzance – prices can range between £30-£50 per night! If you’re a student looking for a great getaway, you can easily book affordable destinations with the student travel company.

This beautiful destination has so much more than just its coast, though; visitors will find themselves drawn into the history of this region when they visit such famous sites as Tintagel Castle or Bodmin Jail.

There’s plenty on offer here for us adventurers too, you’ll find some of the best surfing on offer in the whole of the UK thanks to world class surfing spots like Newquay and Bude which provide excellent waves for surfers of all levels. There’s also plenty of hikes you can take in Cornwall, you can pick up the South West Coast Path all along the coastline, there are a lot of popular walks around Lizard point near Helston.

Belfast

Belfast is a beautiful destination for those looking for something different. It’s the capital of Northern Ireland and one of the fastest-growing cities in Europe, not to mention it’s home to some incredible museums such as The Ulster Museum which is home to a mix of art, culture and sciences (the best bit is the museum is free to all visitors).

Belfast also has many unique attractions worth visiting, including Titanic Belfast, which holds an impressive exhibition on this ill-fated ship! If you’re after more of an adventure or want to  explore outside, then there are plenty of beautiful National Trust properties nearby, too, perfect for ramblers or cyclists alike. A popular spot for the outdoorsy type is Cave Hill country park where you’ll find plenty to keep all the family entertained!

Yorkshire

Yorkshire has to be my favorite spot on this list (not biased at all)! There’s

Yorkshire is home to the Yorkshire Dales National Park which takes travelers through beautiful woodland and landscapes with rugged mountains. There’s plenty to see and do in the Yorkshire Dales such as visiting Yorkshire’s most beautiful waterfalls, visiting the highest pub in England, or hiking up the beautiful peak of Whernside!

Yorkshire has some beautiful cities and small villages to explore too. If you’re looking for a city with lots of history and plenty to do then one of the best places to visit is York. Take a stroll around the old city walls and explore the Jorvic centre for a real deep dive into the cities origins! York also has some great boutique hotels and trendy pubs and bars! If you’re after a more big city feel the Leeds is the place for you, there plenty of shopping, bars and restraints to hang out in after a long day walking the busy city streets!

I hope you find these locations a great mix between great affordability and the perfect getaway for your summer vacations. If there are any other great affordable holiday destinations in the UK that you think should be on this list then leave a comment below!
